About this parasha
God asks the Israelites to bring gifts to build the Mishkan, a portable sanctuary, and describes the Ark with its golden cherubim, the table, the menorah and the curtains.
The picture: The Ark of the Covenant
The Ark of the Covenant with its two golden cherubim (Exodus 25:10–22).
Why this picture?
Terumah describes the Mishkan and everything in it, and the Ark comes first: it holds the tablets of the covenant and stands in the holiest place, with the golden cherubim on its cover.
