Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of These Terms
IvritSuite (the "site") is a free collection of Hebrew literacy tools operated by Harrison Bleiberg ("we," "us"). By accessing or using the site, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the Privacy Policy. If you use the site on behalf of a school or organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms for that use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. The Service
The site provides browser-based tools for Hebrew literacy education — worksheet generation, flash cards, a dictionary, Torah study aids, a font editor, and a classroom dashboard. There are no accounts and no fees. The tools run in your browser, and your settings and creations are stored on your own device as described in the Privacy Policy. We may add, change, or retire features at any time; because your data lives in your browser, use the home-page Import / Export All Settings control to keep your own backups.
3. License to the Site and Code
The site's source code is publicly available on GitHub under the license stated in that repository. Original content we author for the site — page text, graphics, and tool interfaces — is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The IvritSuite name and logo may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement of or affiliation with another product or service without permission.
4. Your Content and Outputs
Everything you create with the tools is yours. Worksheets, flash-card decks, class rosters, schedules, exported .ivrit files, and fonts you build in the Font Maker belong to you, and you may use them for any purpose — including commercially — with no attribution required (though a mention is always appreciated). For fonts, the license you choose during export governs your font; make sure you have the right to use any source material you trace or import. You are responsible for the content you enter into the tools, which stays on your device as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Third-Party Materials
Some tools display or embed material from third parties, and that material carries its own license terms independent of Section 4:
- Kaikki.org — Hebrew word data (derived from Wiktionary) used by the Dictionary, Worksheet Generator, and Flash Cards — CC BY-SA 3.0.
- PocketTorah — recorded Torah chanting and word timings used by the Torah Trainer and Trope Tutor — CC BY-SA 4.0.
- Sefaria — Hebrew Tanakh text (public domain) and English translations in the Torah Trainer; each translation carries its own license, shown in the page footer.
- Hebcal — Jewish-calendar and Shabbat-times data in the Classroom Dashboard, under the Hebcal terms of use.
- Open-Meteo — weather and location-search data in the Classroom Dashboard — CC BY 4.0.
- OpenStreetMap contributors (Nominatim) — reverse geocoding for the Dashboard's "use my location" option — ODbL 1.0.
- Google Fonts and the aharonium/fonts collection — Hebrew and Latin typefaces, nearly all under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; three Culmus Project fonts under the GPL v2 with font exception.
- YouTube — the Classroom Dashboard can embed a teacher-chosen video, governed by YouTube's Terms of Service.
If you redistribute outputs that contain third-party material (for example, chanted audio or dictionary definitions), those third-party terms travel with it.
A complete inventory, including the JavaScript libraries the tools load, is maintained in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md in the repository.
6. Educational Use and Accuracy
The site is an educational aid, not an authority. Hebrew text, nikkud, cantillation marks, translations, and audio may contain errors, and pedagogical choices reflect one approach among many. Please verify liturgical material with your own teacher, rabbi, or cantor before relying on it for ritual use, and review generated materials before classroom use.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SITE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA STORED IN YOUR BROWSER WILL NEVER BE LOST. KEEP BACKUPS.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, LOST PROFITS, OR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Indemnification
You agree to hold us harmless from claims arising out of your violation of these terms or your misuse of the site, including content you create or distribute with the tools.
10. Acceptable Use
Please don't: use the site for any unlawful purpose; attempt to disrupt, overload, or probe the site or its infrastructure; misuse the contact or suggestion forms (spam, harassment, or impersonation); or misrepresent an affiliation with IvritSuite.
11. Changes to These Terms
If these terms change, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes will be reflected on this page; continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Georgia. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in full effect. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the site.
13. Contact
Questions about these terms can be directed to Harrison Bleiberg via the contact page.
