About this parasha
God gives special rules for the kohanim and lists the holy days of the year, from Shabbat, Pesach and Shavuot to Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, with the counting of the Omer and the four species.
The picture: The four species
The lulav and etrog, taken on Sukkot (Leviticus 23:40).
Why this picture?
Emor lists the holy days of the year, and the lulav and etrog, commanded here for Sukkot, turn that list into something children can hold in their hands, while staying apart from the suite’s sukkah icon for Sukkot itself.
