About this parasha
Moses pleads to enter the land, repeats the Ten Commandments, and teaches the Shema, with the mitzvot of loving God, teaching your children, tefillin and the mezuzah.
The picture: The mezuzah
The mezuzah on the doorpost, with the words of the Shema inside (Deuteronomy 6:9).
Why this picture?
Va’etchanan teaches the Shema, and its words are written on the parchment inside every mezuzah, so the mezuzah children touch at the doorway carries the parasha into every Jewish home.
