About this parasha
The whole people stands together to enter God’s covenant, Moses promises that anyone can return to God, teaches that the Torah is “not in heaven” but close to us, and urges, “Choose life.”
The picture: Returning
A path that turns back home: anyone can return to God (Deuteronomy 30:1–10).
Why this picture?
Nitzavim is always read just before Rosh Hashanah and promises that anyone can return to God, so the path that turns back home shows teshuvah, the theme of the season.
