About this parasha

A person healed of tzara’at is purified with cedar wood, red thread, hyssop and two birds, one of which is set free, and the Torah teaches what to do when tzara’at appears on the walls of a house.

The picture: Cedar, hyssop and red thread

The cedar wood, hyssop and red thread used to purify a person healed of tzara’at (Leviticus 14:4–6).

Why this picture?

Metzora is about becoming pure again, and the cedar, hyssop and red thread begin the purification; Rashi reads the tall cedar and the low hyssop as a lesson to set pride aside for humility.
