About this parasha

The Torah teaches that a promise must be kept and that metal vessels are made pure with fire and water, and the tribes of Reuben and Gad ask to settle east of the Jordan with their flocks, promising to fight beside the other tribes first.

The picture: Purifying vessels

Metal vessels are made pure with fire and others with water, the source of kashering pots (Numbers 31:21–23).

Why this picture?

Matot teaches how vessels are made pure with fire and water, the source of kashering pots and of dipping new dishes in a mikveh, things children see at home, especially before Pesach.
