About this parasha
Joseph explains Pharaoh’s dreams of seven fat and seven thin cows, is put in charge of Egypt to store grain for the famine, and tests his brothers when they come to buy food by hiding his silver goblet in Benjamin’s sack.
The picture: The silver goblet in the sack
Joseph’s silver goblet, hidden in Benjamin’s sack of grain (Genesis 44:1–12).
Why this picture?
The goblet hidden in Benjamin’s sack is the parasha’s cliffhanger: Joseph uses it to test whether his brothers have changed, and the reading stops with Benjamin about to be kept as a slave.
